Cycling and wine: a unique experience on the shores of Lake Massaciuccoli

You will cycle along the Puccini cycle path and white roads, through a varied environment ranging from sunflower and wheat fields, vineyards and olive groves, to lake and marshy scenery on the shores of the lake. You will cross wooden bridges over the canals of the lake, observing the large scale nets used by fishermen and their characteristic boats. The Lipu Oasis of Massaciuccoli will be the ideal transit and stopover point, offering you the chance to spot various bird species, from the osprey to the stilt-bird to the elegant red heron. If you would also like to explore the food and wine side of the area, you can make a stop at one of the lake’s most charming wine cellars, the “Mariani cellar”, or at one of Massaciuccoli’s cosy taverns. The adventure continues with a short climb and panoramic view of the lake, with the magnificent Apuan Alps and the Versilia coastline in the background, an ideal vantage point for your photographs at all hours of the day but especially at sunset!
